Inside Tennis to Launch In New York

After being strictly a West Coast magazine for 27 years, Inside Tennis is headed to both Atlanta and the Great White Way.

Translation: Starting in February ‘08, IT will publish monthly editions in New York, which will have a readership of over 100,000. The issues will be mailed to the homes of all 47,000 members of the Eastern Tennis Association and will also be delivered to clubs, shops and sporting good stores in the Tri-State Area, including New York, northern New Jersey and southern Connecticut, it was announced in November 2007.

Analysts noted that the move to both New York and Atlanta is one of the biggest expansions in the tennis print media in decades. IT Publisher Bill Simons noted, “This is an extraordinary move for us to expand both to the player-heavy Atlanta market, which is known for its love of tennis, as well as to New York, which is not only the site of the U.S. Open, but is the intellectual capital of the country.”

Inside Tennis will now have a nationwide presence with issues in the Northwest (Northern California), the Southwest (Southern California and Las Vegas), the Northeast (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) and the Southeast (Atlanta).

Inside Tennis Launches
Atlanta Edition

After 26 years as a West Coast publication, Inside Tennis will be launching an Atlanta edition in 2008 announced in October 2007. Inside Tennis publisher Bill Simons said, “We’re so excited. This is a huge move for us. Over the years, we have gotten a tremendous response to our writing, photos and tennis-with-a-twist coverage. Time and again, people have asked us to come to other markets, but there hasn’t been the right opportunity. Atlanta is a fabulous center for tennis. It’s the hottest urban market in the sport.”

Ten times a year, Inside Tennis will be mailed to the homes of all 43,000 participants of the USTA/Atlanta, and will also be distributed 10 times a year to clubs, shops and tournaments in Georgia. “This is a great way for us to get exposure in the East,” said Simons. Award-winning Inside Tennis is currently distributed throughout Northern and Southern California and Las Vegas. For more info, call (510) 530-2200 or email info@insidetennis.com.
