For many years my friend Syd and I played at Alan's Mid town tennis club in Chicago.
It was the best place in town to play because tennis was taken seriously.
I had many opportunities to meet the greatest players in the game including Arthur Ashe, Billy Jean King, Boris Becker, and on and on. I also got to know Alan's son Steve because he played at the adjacent court each week with his friend. The next generation has an exemplary model to follow.

Congratualtions Alan Schwartz on your wqell deserved initiation into the Tennis Hall of Fame,

What a great article about a great man. For the record, he's a great dad, too.
-Sally Schwartz Higginson, Alan's very proud daughter.
