When what I saw happened at the Clijsters/Williams semi-final. It only confirmed what I have always felt. Serena is a spoiled little brat who thinks she deserves everything and cannot be touched. Through the years I have watched her and every time she loses, she never gives credit to her opponents. It is always about how she played poorly. Who cares? That IS part of the game. She makes snide comments that she is number one even though she isn’t in the ranking, which is being disrespectful of Dinara Safina or anybody else who may holds that position. She constantly mentions that drama seems to be in all her matches. Wake up. YOU are the drama.

An let’s not forget the screaming during points. It is funny because when she does play against players who are giving her problems, ie. Kim in the semi final,(Henin in the past) she does not scream and grunt to this extreme degree. The truth is, it is an unecessary tactic that she uses to intimidate her opponents. I guess if that doesn’t work, threatening them if they go in the locker room or ramming a ball down someone’s throat will.

Serena, get a clue. You claim to want to be like Nadal. How about starting with learning from his humility and grace. As long as she surrounds herself with people who let her off the hook (ie. she should have been thrown off the entire US Open and not been allowed to play doubles) she will continue to be the spoiled person she is.

Her apology was written by a well paid publicist for all the people who thinks she is ”sincere”.

I agree with tennis2009, because yes it was an obvious bad call but that was just not necessary!! She had a moment to gather herself and she still went out of control. She should have stopped after the first outburst! Grace is right too though because you have to admit that the williams sisters are given a hard time quite often & im glad she stood up for herself but she should not have taken it that far!!

A lazy pro made millions in the sport threated a lineswoman. Shame on you, Serena. Classless and uncivilized act.

Grace you are flat out wrong.

Gonzo has been given many code violations for ball abuse & racquet abuse. In fact, last year he lost a match (R16 Queen's Club v. Karlovic) under similar circumstances: he received a third code violation (game penalty) when he was down 3-6 5-6 resulting in Karlovic winning the last game & thus the match.

This is typical Serena. Let's start with the first-set racquet smash -- setting a wonderful example for the many juniors who I'm sure were watching. Good for the referee to at least give her a code violation.

She knew she was going to lose to Clijsters. But nobody ever beats Serena -- Serena only beats herself. Her temper tantrum on the penultimate match point -- which ended up costing her both the foot fault point and the code violation point -- simply allowed this match to fit in nicely with all of the other matches she's lost despite the fact that nobody has ever beaten her.

And it's a slap in the face to Clijsters, who deserved to win the right way.

As for the press conference, give her credit for being smart enough to listen to her handlers, who I'm sure leaned on her very heavily to act not as she usually does after a loss (hat pulled down over her eyes, casting blame everywhere except at herself, never acknowledging her opponents' skills). Instead we got Holly Golightly up there, which under the circumstances was just bizarre.

Oh please. How many bad calls in big matches is Serena supposed to swallow? Its getting to be laughable. I'm not surprised she boiled over. How many muti-slam champs get a code violation for smashing their racket? Please. How Gonzalez can smash his racket? Such a double standard for the Williams sisters. USTA be asahmed. And check out the blogs, Cronin -- fans black and white are disgusted with the double standard.
